Started in 1994, Aqua Cow / North America now has 15 years of experience. It is time to report what’s happened and has been learned. We begin with a series of state maps locating Aqua Cow tanks.

SUMMARY :

• 69 Aqua Cow tanks sold.
• Of these, 37 are used by custom services,
• 6 by vets, and the rest by large dairies.
• The 6 busiest custom services avg. 1+ / cows day, and
• the top 3 have avg. 2/day, or over 700 / year.

FIRST-HAND OBSERVATION LEADS TO SALES

Customers usually see a cow floated before they look into buying. In some dairy regions Aqua Cow is well-known. In other areas, farmers have never heard of it. This Wisconsin map helps to show how sales have rippled outwards from central users.

For example, in 1999 both Carl Schwendimann (Hartford) and Steve Kraak (Monticello) started custom cow floating services. Because no one else was doing this in Wisconsin, they looked into it very carefully, talking to local vets, farmers, and out-of-state custom operators. Since then each has floated thousands of cows and developed a full-time job.

Along the way many farms saw this new lift / therapy for down cows. A few of Carl’s and Steve’s customers bought their own. Hoof trimmer Darrell Styczynski (Manitowoc) came to ride with Carl for a day, and by 2002 had 4 tanks running around his area. Dick Spreeman further north in Green Bay liked what he saw and also built-up to 4 tanks. The Kiel Veterinary Clinic, located slightly to the west of this activity, were building a large animal hospital and decided to install a warm water tank & heaters for 2 Aqua Cow tanks. Some dairy clients of all of these services bought their own tanks.
